2026 barn quilt contest

​Barn quilts are a charming tradition that started right here in Ohio—colorful quilt blocks painted on barns to celebrate farm heritage and creativity. For America 250, we’re continuing that tradition with a patriotic twist, inviting our community to create a quilt block that blends art, agriculture, and American spirit.

​Rules:

• Open to all ages and skill levels. One entry per person. FREE TO ENTER.
• ​Prizes: 1st - $250, 2nd- $150, 3rd- $75
  
• ​Must be a 3' x 3' square and 3/8" or 1/2" inch thick durable exterior material and have a proper wire hanger - using 2 eye screws and wire attached for hanging.
• Entries must be designed for square display, not diamond orientation.
• Designs should celebrate American history, patriotism, local heritage, or the spirit of the nation's 250th anniversary.
• No copyrighted logos, political messaging, or offensive imagery. The fair reserves the right to reject any entries.
• Entries must be painted using outdoor-quality paint that is weather-resistant.
• Design must reflect a traditional quilt block pattern.
• Attach a label on the back with the name, phone number, and title of the design.
• Fairgoers will vote via QR code for their favorite barn quilt. Limit one vote per device. If online voting fails, the Fair reserves the right to select a winner.
• All barn quilt entries will become the property of The Great Geauga County Fair and auctioned or sold in support of the Fair Foundation.
• Drop off barn quilts by Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026 at the Fair Office.
